East Central Illinois Conference
Art I:
Eligibility
Section 1. The rules of the Illinois High School Association shall govern
the eligibility of all students participating in sponsored conference
activities. Exceptions for approved IHSA schools can be approved by the
legislative body.
Art
III: Boys and Girls Basketball
Section 1. There will be a conference champion, with the champion being
determined by a won-lost percentage of all ECIC conference games. If a tie
exists within the conference, co-champions will be recognized.
Section 2. To be a championship contender a school must have played all
games on the ECIC master schedule, unless the make-up game(s) has no bearing on
determining the championship.
Section 3. The basketball schedule shall be established two years in
advance.
Section 4. Pregame may consist of a welcome/sportsmanship announcement,
introduction of players, prayer and National Anthem. The ECIC will abide by IHSA
regulations in regard to game rules. The ECIC will recognize a 20 minute warm-up
period prior to varsity contests to begin after the floor is cleared form the
preliminary game, and a 10 minute half time to begin after both teams have left
the floor. Each quarter of JV games shall be no longer that 7 minutes with a 10
minute half time. Any changes to the structure of ECIC activities can be made
with the agreement of both schools.
Section 5. Selection of one All-Conference Basketball Team.
A. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for
all-conference consideration. Coaches may submit statistical and descriptive
information, and this information will be considered at a meeting of the coaches
to be held on a date determined by the Legislative body. Each head coach may
compile individual statistics for each player nominated. This information should
be for Conference Varsity games only. A list of each coach's nominations shall
be delivered to the Executive Secretary at least 2 days prior to the scheduled
meeting. A coach may make changes at the meeting. The nominations will be
discussed and voted on by secret ballot at the meeting.
B. The coaches shall vote for five (5) for the first team and vote for
five (5) for the second team.
C. A nominee will receive two (2) points for each vote he/she gets for
first team and one (1) point for each vote he/she gets for the second team. The
five (5) boys/girls receiving the highest number of points will make up the
first team. All ties for the five (5) highest scores will be placed on the first
team. The next five (5) highest scores and ties will be placed on the second
team. Any of the remaining nominees who receive one (1) or more vote will
receive Honorable Mention.
D. Coaches shall not vote for players from their own team.
E. Honorable Mention. After all voting is complete, each coach may name
one (1) player from his/her team to Honorable Mention.
F. The executive secretary shall not make public release of the
All-Conference Team until all conference schools have been eliminated from the
State Tournament Series.
Section 6. Boys' Basketball: The Executive Secretary shall make a
conference schedule. Boys Basketball games will be scheduled on Tuesday and
Friday nights or Monday and Thursday nights to alternate. Monday and Tuesday
and/or Thursday and Friday dates between conference schools that do not play JV
games may combine the varsity games to one joint night. Conference schools may
change conference dates, but must inform the Executive Secretary and other
conference schools of the changes.
Section 7. Girls' Basketball. The Executive Secretary shall make a
conference schedule. Girls Basketball games will be scheduled on Monday and
Thursday nights or Tuesday and Friday nights to alternate. Monday and Tuesday
and/or Thursday and Friday dates between conference schools that do not play JV
games may combine the varsity games to one joint night. Conference schools may
change conference dates, but must inform the Executive Secretary and other
conference schools of the changes.
Section 8. Each Conference school shall report to the Executive
Secretary, on the first school day of each week, results of varsity games played
the prior week.
Art IV:
Baseball/Softball
Section 1. All conference schools participating in baseball shall follow
the IHSA rules for spring baseball.
Section 2. Any game suspended with the score tied, shall be finished from
the last full inning completed.
Section 3. Conference Champion:
A. There will be a conference champion for baseball, with the champion
being determined by a won-lost percentage of all ECIC conference games. The
conference schedule will consist of two contests against each member school, on
at each member school's home facility. Upon agreement of both schools a double
header may be played with the site rotating every year. In this case the host
school will be th home team in game one with the traveling team being the home
team in game two of the double header. If a tie exists within the conference,
co-champions will be recognized.

A. Baseball coaches may nominate up to eleven (11) players.
B. Each head coach shall submit nominations for their team for
all-conference consideration.

will be considered at a meeting of the coaches to be held on a date determined
by the Legislative body. Each head coach may compile individual statistics for
each player nominated. This information should be for Conference Varsity games

ballot at the meeting.
C. Baseball coaches shall vote for up to
eleven (11). The the top eleven (11) baseball players will make the first team.
There will not be a second team. Any player receiving at least one (1) vote and
not making the first team will be Honorable Mention.
D. Honorable Mention. After all voting is complete, each coach may name
one (1) player from his/her team to Honorable Mention.
E. A coach may not vote for his/her own players.
F. The executive secretary shall not make public release of the
All-Conference Team until all conference schools have been eliminated from the
State Tournament Series.

Art VI:
All-Academic Teams
The ECIC supports endeavors to further enhance the value of academic work by the
students of the member schools. In an effort to provide additional recognition
for their academic achievements, the ECIC will honor the student-athletes,
managers, and cheerleaders who participate in any athletic activities. The
following criteria will be used to recognize students as "All-Academic
Team" members:
1. This award is limited to seniors only.
2. Each sport will be recognized with an All-Academic Team if there are eligible
students available.
3. The senior must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.00 scale after their 7th
semester of school.
4. All students from a school who meet the required GPA will make the team for
the sport in which they participated.
5. There will be just one team, with no second team or Honorable Mention.
6. All-Conference Academic Team awards will be given.
7. Each school will provide a list of eligible seniors to the Executive
Secretary by the April meeting for all sports/activities for the current school
year.
8. The Academic All-Conference Team will be announced the first week in May.

VII: Championship Awards
Championship plaques will be presented in each ECIC competitive activity.
Art VIII
Starting Times:
Section 1. All athletic contests played as preliminary to varsity games
shall begin at 6:00 p.m. All athletic contests played as preliminary to varsity
games as part of three contests will begin at 5:00p.m.
Section 2. All Varsity soccer games shall begin at 4:30. Any game played
after Daylight Savings time ends will start at 4:00.
Section 3. All Baseball games shall start at 4:30. Any game played before
Daylight Savings time will start at 4:00.
Section 4. All starting times may be changed by mutual consent of both
schools.
Art X Treasurer
ITEMIZED LIST OF TREASURER DUTIES FOR THE ECIC
1. Prepare a financial report for the fall meeting.
2. Prepare treasurer's reports for the Principals' meetings.
3. Collect membership dues from each school and deposit them.
4. Write checks to pay expenditures.
Art XI President
ITEMIZED LIST OF PRESIDENT DUTIES FOR THE ECIC
1. Schedule the place and time, and lead all meetings of the legislative body.
2. Prepare an agenda for all meetings of the legislative body.
3. Call emergency meetings if necessary.
4. Designate the schools that will host and facilitate each activities all
conference selections (September meeting).
5. Order conference championship trophies and all-conference awards.
6. DeLand-Weldon will assume the presidency through the 2003-2004 school year
when at that time the alphabetical order rotation will begin.
