  n    Adding or Dropping Courses — Students may add elective courses through the end of the first week of classes with the approval of the Guidance Counselors.  Students may drop until the end of the second week of classes.  Students wishing to add /drop a required course must obtain approval from the teacher(s) concerned, the Executive Teacher, the Guidance Counselor, and a parent/guardian.  Students wishing to add/drop a required course should obtain an Add/Drop Form from the Student Services Office.  The Add/Drop form must be completed before changes can be made.  No course may be added to a student’s schedule after the second week of the course (except at the discretion of the teacher, Executive Teacher, and the Assistant Director).  Students wishing to add/drop an elective course after the end of the first week of classes must follow the procedures outlined for required courses. Students may add a course for one week after the beginning of each semester.

Students wishing to drop a course without it appearing on their transcript may do so only with the approval of the teacher(s) concerned, their department head(s), a counselor, and a parent/guardian. The deadlines for dropping courses are:

• Full year courses = last day of the 1st quarter;

• 1st semester courses = last day of the 1st quarter;

• 2nd semester courses = last day of the 3rd quarter.

A student wishing to withdraw* from a class after one grading period will have a notation on the transcript indicating that he/she withdrew and was either passing or failing at the time of withdrawal. The deadlines for withdrawing from a class are:

• Full year courses = 2 weeks after 1st semester ends;

• 1st semester courses = 2 weeks after 1st quarter ends;

• 2nd semester courses = 2 weeks after 3rd quarter ends.

*This means that students cannot wait until the end of a semester or the year to withdraw. After these dates, they will not be allowed to withdraw from a class without the permission of the Assistant Director (only under significant extenuating circumstances).
