Located on the north edge of the University of Illinois campus, the school draws its students from a 40-mile radius, with 86 percent of the students residing in Champaign-Urbana and 14 percent in surrounding communities. The racial/ethnic makeup of the student body can be characterized as follows: White — 63 percent; Asian/Pacific Islanders — 26 percent; African American — 5 percent; Hispanic — 5 percent; and Native American — 1 percent.
Virtually all graduates go on to college, although some defer their college careers for a year or two in favor of service programs in this country or abroad, or in favor of traveling, both near and far.
