My Rights
I have the right to be myself in this school. This means I will not be treated differently because of my: — Race, — Sexual orientation, — Religion, — Age, — Body, — Gender, or — Where I live. • I have the right not to be: — Ignored, — Joked about, — Hurt, — Threatened, or — Punished because I am different from someone else. • I have the right to expect my property to be safe in this school. • I have the right to be helped to learn from my mistakes. This means that no one will silently stand by while I abuse the rights of others. • I have the right to be heard in this school. This means I will not be punished for expressing my feelings and opinions. • I have the right to expect that all these rights will be mine in all circumstances so long as I am exercising my full responsibilities. |
My Responsibilities I have the responsibility to respect others and not to treat them differently because of their: — Race, — Sexual orientation, — Religion, — Age, — Body, — Gender, or — Where they live. • I have the responsibility not to: — Ignore, — Joke about, — Hurt, — Threaten, or — Punish others because they are different from me. • I have the responsibility not to steal or destroy the property of others. • I have the responsibility to help others learn from their mistakes. This means I will not stand silently by while the rights of others are abused. • I have the responsibility to listen to others in this school. This means I will not punish others for expressing their feelings and opinions. • I have the responsibility to protect my rights and the rights of others in all circumstances. |
