Conferences — In the fall of 2003, Uni High joined Eastern Central Illinois Conference for girls’ volleyball, , boys’ and girls’ basketball, baseball and soccer. The seven schools in this conference are:  Buckley Christ Lutheran, Decatur Christian, Decatur LSA, Deland-Weldon, Judah Christian, Normal Calvary Baptist, and University High School.  Boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ track contests, and girls’ swimming are independent teams. Being a member of the conference provides Uni High athletes the opportunity to be recognized as All-Conference athletes and All-Conference scholar-athletes.

Academics — The Athletic Department understands that academics come first in Uni student-athletes’ lives. If Uni athletes need to be excused from practice or games due to academic needs, their parent(s)/ guardian(s) should discuss the reason with the coach before or on the day of the practice or contest. Students may also bring homework to games to complete.

No-Cut Policy — Athletic teams are open to all Uni High students. No try-outs are held for the teams. Participating in athletics is demanding both mentally and physically. Students are responsible for keeping up with their school work and maintaining respectable GPAs.

Athletic registration packets are available in the P.E. Office (201 Kenney) and the Uni High Office (Room 102). To register, the athlete or parent/guardian will need to bring all the following forms, which must be properly completed: (1) Uni High Athlete Information form; (2) Uni High Athletic Participation Agreement; (3) Uni High Medical History form; (4) a current (within one calendar year) IHSA physical form; and (5) a $75 participation fee per sport.

No athletes will be permitted to participate in any way, in any practice or contest, until they have been properly registered. Athletes will receive a PERMIT TO PARTICIPATE PASS, which they must give to the head coach before they can participate. There will be NO exceptions!
