Home > About Uni > School Policies > Student Handbook > 6.15
Parent/Guardian & Athlete Responsibilities — Parent(s)/guardian(s) and athletes are responsible for:
1. Paying entry fees for all competitions.
2. Paying for any other expense related to the competition.
3. Providing transportation (or reimbursing Uni High, if a
UI vehicle is used, at 31 cents per mile) to and from the
event for the athlete and coach. For liability reasons,
coaches will not use their personal vehicles.
4. Providing and arranging lodging for athlete and coach if overnight stay is necessary.
5. Providing meals for the coach if the event is out of town or lasts for more than six hours.
6. Having a current athletic physical form on file in the Athletic Office.
7. Providing a proper documentation of coaching certification for a coach when a person other than a Uni High faculty member or coaching staff member will be supervising the athlete. (Please note that all coaches must be registered with the IHSA.)
8. Reimbursing coaches that are not Uni High staff members.
9. Reimbursing the school for all expenses. Checks should be given to the Athletic Director and made payable to University Of Illinois.
If more than one athlete is involved in the competition, the expenses should be shared equally among the competitors. The AD will notify the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the cost for entry fees and transportation when a UI vehicle is used, otherwise the parent/guardian will assume responsibility for the transportation, lodging and meals.
Parent(s)/guardian(s), athletes and the Athletic Director should work together to determine what events will be entered, who the coach will be, transportation and lodging issues and any other issues that may arise. The athlete and his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) will be responsible for returning all paperwork to the AD. Please keep in mind that there are always deadlines that must be adhered to. All correspondence with other schools and the IHSA will be conducted by the AD. If any questions or concerns arise, please call the AD.
