Gene Bild -- Teaching Associate (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2) Mr. Bild holds a BS in mathematics from DePaul University and an MS in the Teaching of Mathematics from the U of I. He is married to U of I film-historian and theorist, Ramona Curry and they have a daughter, Jia.

Mr. Bild's mathematical interests include polyomino constructions, coding theory and tessellations. His non-mathematical passions are Chen-style taijiquan and qi gong, writing haiku and collecting vintage paperbacks, especially those with artwork by the late Edward Gorey. Mr. Bild lives at an undisclosed location near downtown Champaign.

Mr. Bild received the 2002 Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished Junior High School Mathematics Teaching from the Mathematical Association of America.

 

Elizabeth Jockusch -- Teaching Associate (Advanced Topics, Acc. Calc 1/2/3, Acc. Alg. 2/Trig) Elizabeth started teaching at Uni in 1976. She had a B.A. in math from Swarthmore College and is A.B.D. for a Ph.D. in math from M.I.T. She is married to Carl Jockusch, a professor in math at the U of I.  The Class of 2002 chose Mrs. Jockusch for the Ella Leppart Award for teaching excellence! 

 

 

 

Craig Russell -- Teaching Associate, Executive Teacher (Algebra 1, Statistics) Craig earned his S.B. in mathematics at MIT in 1983, then served in the Army for seven years before being "assigned" to RPI, where he earned an MS in Applied Mathematics and completed all but dissertation requirements for the PhD in 1992. He then taught for two years at the United States Military Academy (West Point) and was the math department leader in a study involving issuing students laptop computers for class work. After West Point, Craig taught and led the math department at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Jackson, Mississippi for four years, before coming to Uni in the fall of 1998.  Craig's favorite people are his wife and two children, followed by students who like math.  Course Information
