Doing their part: Photos from Uni's blood drive

Posted Wednesday, May 17, 2006, The OG, features

Uni folks came out in force today to donate to the Community Blood Services of Illinois. Anyone 16 or older and weighing 110 pounds or more could donate one unit of blood (about one pint) in the CBSI bus parked outside Uni's west entrance from 8 a.m. to noon. Student Council sponsored the annual drive and set a goal of 20 units (20 people). Fourteen people donated, which fell short of the goal but doubled the number of last year's donors. The entire process took 45 minutes per person. It began with the completion of a health history questionnaire and ended with refreshments. I'm very proud of all of you who contributed, especially if it made you queasy. This is an important and significant giving of self. (even if it's just going to vampires...wait, don't tell them that, Mr. Garvey...oh, ok).
