[Feb. 14 UPDATE: The boys basketball game between Uni and Decatur Lutheran scheduled for tonight at Kenney Gym has been postponed. This is the second time in as many days that the game has been called off because of the weather. A new date has yet to be determined.]

UNI WILL HAVE a second consecutive snow day.

Director/Principal Kassie Patton sent out a message at 3:46 p.m. today saying school will be closed Wednesday due to the snow.

The boys basketball game against Decatur Lutheran is still scheduled to begin 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kenney Gym. According to Patton, she and Athletic Director Sally Walker have decided that if the roads can be traveled safely, the game will be played. We will publish an update if the contest is canceled. The game was originally scheduled for tonight.

Patton said rehearsal for the spring musical will be held at the discretion of directors Barbara Ridenour and Rick Murphy.

Today's snow day, which Patton announced Monday afternoon, was Uni's first since Jan. 4, 1999.

Most of East Central Illinois remains under a blizzard warning, as reported in today's News-Gazette.

Windy conditions continue to make travel hazardous as snowdrifts reappear almost as soon as roads are plowed. The Champaign County Highway Department decided to stop plowing county roads about noon today because of the wind, according to The News-Gazette.

Geez! Are you guys journalists are what!

Just wondering, has Uni ever had two consecutive snow days?

My guess would be that they may have in January of 1979 (the last time that the U of I had a snow day), which was a record blizzard. For the sake of comparison for our students, I was a senior in high school then.

Geez! Are you guys journalists or what! What do you mean by that exactly?

I think he/she/it is referring to the fact that we are so meticulously awesome, as seen in the "3:46 p.m". Down to the MINUTE. :)

Oops. Sorry.
