Lighthouse libraries

Here's post two on What I'm Doing On My Summer Vacation. While on Washington Island, we took a ferry ride to Rock Island. We hiked to the lighthouse, which has been beautifully restored. And what did we find there, but a lighthouse library!

Apparently, supply vessels would bring these lighthouse library boxes to the keepers and their families at their isolated outposts. If you only had access to two shelves of books, what would you want to see on them? Glad I don't have to worry about that.

What you don't know about what you can't possibly know about

This is the first of two posts on What I'm Doing On My Summer Vacation. My husband and I spent a week on Washington Island, Wisconsin. On the way up, we stopped at many (many, many) rest stops. Somehow it came up in our conversation that in men's restrooms, the instructions on the hand dryers always seem to be fiddled with. Where it says "Push button," someone feels compelled to scratch off the "on." Now this is not the case in women's restrooms and I thought he was feeding me a line. Luckily (for him), we had a digital camera with us.
