Now for something completely different
My husband Mitch and I are enjoying a very odd sort of 15 minutes of fame, having just been the subject of a feature article about contra dance (and love!) in the local paper.
I remember how I felt the first time I saw a teacher outside of school. She was doing something ordinary like shopping, and I was rather stunned. It never occurred to me that teachers ate actual food or needed to buy clothes. I don't think the students who happen to read this piece will harbor any such illusions about me.

Awww.... It's so sweet... :D
It is fun seeing the article about us. We're grateful to our friends and acquaintances who tell us of how they liked it and who have given us copies. During this experience I have figured out the difference between having an article written about you and being a celebrity.
When you are a regular person, people send you their copy of the article; when you are a celebrity, people have you sign their copy of the article.
I love the distinction you make, Mitch! And I really enjoyed reading about the two of you in the article.
Thanks everybody! It's been a pretty wild week of fame, even if nobody is asking for our autograph ;-) .
My parents met in a similar way... they hooked up through folk dancing.
A couple of days ago, my mother and I were convinced we had seen you biking across Springfield on Coler until just before we got close enough to say hello (it was not you). So there's another effect of your new celebrity—false sightings!
I learned something new from your blog - contra dancing. Never heard of it before living in Texas...
Bask in your few minutes of fame!
