Ah, the utopian simplicity
of the school library, where boys and girls can gather
together to share wholesome and character-building magazines
such as this (the back cover says "Be Wise, Work
Safely"). Does anybody else think this picture was
staged? |

|
| The bucolic joy of being
a librarian is perfectly immortalized in this fine portrait
from 1959. (This one was definitely not staged...we've
seen plenty of librarians in exactly this pose of abiding
serenity.) |

In 1953 the library appears
to have doubled as a beauty-salon. These fellows seem
a bit ham-fisted when it comes to applying foundation,
though... |

Yep, this looked like nothing
but trouble from the get-go...

TERROR IN THE LIBRARY! THEY'RE
CLIMBING THE WALLS! (Why, you ask? Well, in the upper
right corner, our friend the masked monster seems to have
lost all control.) |
|
 |
| How d'ya do, yesiree, friendliest library
in town. Come one, come all. Just pull a book off the
shelf and rest it on our heads, we're righter 'an rain
here at Uni High. (You guessed it...1953 again. These
are some wild kids...) |
