Everyone, and I mean everyone is fascinated by what the girl sitting on the left has to say. She has poise, she has eloquence, and students and teacher alike are held wrapt by her discourse...except for that guy with the magazine open in his lap...(1972)

If I cannot comprehend the homework, I shall eat the pen. A wise thinker once said, When intellectual sustenance is thin, masticate on whatever is nearest to hand. (1972)

GALLERY O' LIBRARIANS

Apparently most of the pictures of the library that made it into the yearbooks in the 1970s were of the librarians themselves. In that spirit, here is a mini-gallery tribute to those few, those happy few, who so dilligently served the students back when.

Here a gentleman of the masculine persuasion (yes, a male) fulfills his role as library assistant and helps with the circulation records. You see, even in the 1970s the profession was liberated enough to allow the coarser half to join in the pursuit of the mantle of librarianship. (1973)
The Library Technical Assistant dilligently typing up overdue notices. Before they were generated automatically by a computer and sent to your email, this is how the magic happened, folks. (1975)
The head librarian at Uni for most of the '70s, Ms. Van Nord. For anyone who's interested, all of Ms. Van Nord's annual reports on the library are available in the Uni High Library archives in room 201. They make for very interesting reading, if you like that sort of thing...all sorts of subtext and intrigue. (1975)
One of the undergraduate assistants that helped in the library. In those days, room 218 was known as the "library Annex" (and the existence of room 203 as part of the library was but a gleam in the librarian's eye). This young lady was the supervisor of the room-across-the-hall. (1976)
