DANVILLE — The Uni boys varsity soccer team lost 2-0 Thursday to the Schlarman Hilltoppers. The shutout was Uni's second in a row and drops the season record to 12-2.

The Hilltoppers, seeded No. 2 in the Peotone sectional, are also 12-2.

The Illineks vigorously searched for ways to score, but were never able to create a serious threat. Senior Daniel Ito said the team's midfield couldn't coordinate well with each other, resulting in many failed scoring attempts.

Uni was also lacking in defense, allowing the Hilltoppers to net poorly planned goals.

The team met to discuss strategies for improvement today in anticipation of their next game against Urbana, a team that has never lost a match against Uni.

“We're all kind of frustrated right now because we've had two losses in a row,” Ito said, but added that the team should be in good shape to perform more competitively in future games.

The Illineks face Urbana High School 10 a.m. Saturday at DCR fields.
