URBANA — The visiting Shiloh Raiders defeated the Uni girls varsity basketball team 45-25 Tuesday night at Kenney Gym.

The loss, Uni's third in a row, drops the team's record to 3-4.

Shiloh, a member of the Little Okaw Valley Conference, got off to a fast start and controlled most of the first half. The Illineks didn't make the bulk of their points until the third quarter.

Junior Ruthie Welch led the Illineks in scoring with 5 points. Junior Aran Yoo and sophomores Jessi Sullivan, Rachel Skoza, and Kaylie Dastrup each contributed 4 points.

Welch grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, while Sullivan added 9.

The girls will host Villa Grove Thursday night.

[UPDATE: The Villa Grove game was canceled Thursday afternoon due to weather considerations and will be made up later this season.]

Hang in there Uni. I wish I were able to be back there to cheer you on. I am with you in spirt, but 1000 miles away in Colorado. I'm keeping up with the team via the nice articles here on the Web. Keep up the hard play. (Ex) subbie Coach Wickens
