ON SATURDAY, APRIL 28, Students for a Better World (or S4BW) will hold a charity bike ride to raise money for A Woman's Fund. The ride will be rescheduled to May 5 if weather becomes a problem.
A Woman's Fund provides crisis services and facilities to women in need who are victims of rape or domestic violence. These services and facilities include A Woman's Place, a temporary shelter for women and children who have suffered domestic abuse.
Local businesses are sponsoring the family bike ride, such as Champaign Cycle and Strawberry Fields, the latter of which will provide fruit for participants after the race.
The cost to enter the ride is $15 for one person, an additional $10 for a second family member, and an extra $5 dollars for a third member. After three, there is no additional charge. All riders will be required to wear a helmet.
There will also be a raffle at the event for several prizes, including gift cards to Body & Sole.
Riders can choose to participate in a five-mile, 15-mile, or 50-mile ride. There will be no time limit for people participating in the ride.
Registration will take place between 9 and 10 a.m. on the day of the ride at the Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway Ave., Urbana. The ride will start soon after registration is over.
