CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT

OLLIE GOLDBART

Hi! My name is Ollie Goldbart and I am running for Freshmen President. I believe it is important for a president to make to make decisions based on input from class members. For example, I would poll students about what they want for dances, assemblies, and how to make Uni better for everyone, instead of relying solely upon my own opinion. This strategy allows me to find out what both the majority and minority of the students think. I like organizing activities (I started the Duct Tape Club!) and working with a team to make great things happen! If you want a president that listens to YOUR opinion, vote for Goldbart!

STEFANIE SENIOR

My name is Stefanie Senior and I am running for class president of the class of 2011! I have previous leadership experience from being elected co-captain of my basketball team for the 2006-07 school year. I think I would make a great president because I have good leadership skills, and I am definitely not afraid to try new things. As president, one of my main goals would be to organize fun events and fundraisers for our class to sponsor. I really want to make our freshman year the best it could be!

ELENI YANNELIS

My name is Eleni Yannelis and I am running for freshman class president. I have great ideas to make next year more fun, and the leadership and organizational skills to make the ideas happen. I think we need more fun field trips and class events. If elected, I will listen to people's ideas and work to put them into effect. I am outgoing and can glean ideas from people. I can also communicate effectively these ideas. I'm organized, and I always follow through! In terms of experience, I was a class representative at Home Hi for 2 years. I also played on the subbie girls' basketball team and I started a UNICEF club with Katayun Salehi. If I am elected, I will work hard to accomplish everything I can for the class of 2011. Vote for me, Eleni Yannelis, and you will have a responsible and organized president that cares about the class and its needs. Vote Eleni!

CANDIDATES FOR VICE PRESIDENT

ERIC CHEN

Hello, I am Eric Chen. I sincerely hope that you will vote for me as Vice President. I pledge a full cooperation with the President, the SFAC, and the Secretary/Treasurer to help make this year one of our most enthusiastic, fun, innovative, and successful years ever. As Vice President, I will try to make your days in Uni ones that you will hardly forget. I am an organized person and I am eager to share ideas, and always try to improve myself. I will try my hardest effort as Vice President, and am open to your ideas, thoughts, and opinions, so feel free to tell me stuff that you want mentioned or changed. In addition, I would serve my honorable and respectable peers to the best of my ability.

I would be very comfortable and enthusiastic about assisting the class of 2011 on any question that arises. In fact, if you forget the homework, just contact me, and I would remind you as best as I can. I hold my responsibilities as Vice President in the highest regard. I will be very dedicated to my fellow peers and would gladly help solve or clear up any concerns if they are rational. I will encourage participation in new and excellent clubs, groups, and ideas, from which you can expect to have my support. If I am elected, I hope that we can learn and gain valuable experience, which I admit I need.

As Vice President, I will actively promote your interests if they are beneficial. I hope that I can try to help save up money and funds to do fun and awesome activities in which we can go or do something spectacular in the future. As Vice President, I will try to promote your great ideas into practice. I also endorse field trips. If I am elected, I hope that I can work with others to try to fundraise, raise money, and perhaps develop more options to buy food and raise our funds during lunch time instead of just pizza. I can work to ease the task of going to school, and have more carpools/transportation options. I will work with the class of 2011 to see what activities need to be introduced so that people may have more fun and innovation. One of my important goals is to serve you. May we always go forward a step and not back one. Together, we can make a difference! I am privileged and honored to be considered in the election for Vice President of the Class of 2011. Thank you very much for your time!

ADAM JOSEPH

My name is Adam Joseph and I am a sub freshmen. I will be running for the office of Vice-President. For the last two years I served on Franklin Middle School's student council and attended bi-weekly meetings and also served on the talent show planning committee.

I have served as Assistant Senior Patrol leader and as scribe in Scouts. Which has provided me with leadership experience.

I bring to this campaign a wealth of experience in fund raising. I have sold a wide variety of products from popcorn to jewelry, both door to door and commercial outlets. I have also raised money for other organizations such as St. Jude children's hospital, and volunteering at the crisis nursery Christmas shop.

As Vice-President I will work hard to support the class president and to speak the students' voice to student council. If elected I would try to make fundraisers fun and raise money for charity, school, and the sub-freshman class. I will, if elected, work extremely hard to get the subbies heard in student council and support the president.

CLAIRE LIU

Hi, this is Claire Liu and I am applying to be your freshman Vice President. I think that as a responsible person, I will be a good candidate to take care of the duties a VP needs to handle. Also, I can get along with almost everyone and am not afraid to speak out on behalf of our class with your suggestion. The class of 2011 is already a group of people who will protest against unfairness and I strongly believe that as Vice President, the thoughts of the class will be heard.

Thanks for reading,

Claire Liu

CANDIDATES FOR SECRETARY/TREASURER

ERICK DIETZ

Hello, My name is Erick Dietz. I would like to run for Secretary/Treasurer. I would like to run because I want to have the student council experience. I would also like to have a say in activities done at Uni. I would like to be able to help the uni population by helping make decisions effecting it.

WILL FERNANDEZ

I served this past year as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Subfreshman Class. I was proud to be a part of the team of Subfreshmen who lobbied for and won the right for all of us to attend the Lock-in this year. I believe that our participation in this activity and our mature behavior will earn our class more trust, responsibilities and rights. As a part of STUDCO, I have worked with fellow class representatives to plan activities. I helped organize and set-up the Subbie sponsored dance which earned money for our class. I have enjoyed my first year at UNI. The Class of 2011 is an incredible group of people who will make a huge difference in this school and in the world. I am proud to be a member of this class and would be honored to have your vote and to serve again as Secretary-Treasurer.

REVATHI MATURI

My name is Revathi Maturi and I am running for the position of secretary/treasurer for the Class of 2011. I am running because I am organized, reliable, and intensely focused. I am a very energetic and dynamic person and can interact easily with our class sponsor. I am extremely focused on tasks and always give a hundred percent towards it, whether it's an assignment or a track meet. I will work closely with the president and vice-president to ensure that we have a great Allerton trip and an awesome freshman year. So, please vote me for the Class of 2011 secretary/treasurer!

LILLI PEARSON

My name is Lilli Pearson and I'm running for the Secretary/Treasurer position for the Class of 2011. I believe I'm an ideal candidate for this post for a few reasons.

I'm very organized and I'm able to deal with a lot of things at once. I apply myself to whatever I'm doing, whether it is schoolwork or extracurricular activities, and I am very willing to do the same as a class representative. I want our class' freshman year to be a remarkable one, and I would work with the President and the Vice President to make it so.

Although I haven't had any previous experience in SFAC or Student Council, I don't believe this will get in the way of my effectiveness as a class officer. A different perspective can refresh any system, and I think mine will.

Thank you, and vote for Lilli Pearson.

CANDIDATES FOR SFAC REPRESENTATIVE

JENNY COOKE

My name is Jenny Cooke and I am running for freshman SFAC representative. I have already served one year as your subfreshman vice-president. I have been outspoken and worked hard for the subbie class. I initiated and wrote a petition to gain entrance to a lock-in. I also helped in numerous fund-raising events for our class. As your SFAC representative, I will bring energy, organization, and dedication to this important job. I want to hear what your thoughts on what needs to be done to make our freshman year better. I would be honored to serve as your SFAC representative.

YOUYANG GU

Hello. I'm Youyang Gu and I would like to be your SFAC representative again for next year! You guys elected me to be your Student-Faculty Actions Committee [sic] for this successful year, and I want to continue to represent our soon-to-be freshmen class next year. SFAC meets every week to make sure Uni's regulations and rules are going smoothly, and make adjustments when needed. We also decide where some of the Uni's funding goes. We accomplished many things over the past year, such as establishing an Honor Council and going through the Handbook and making revisions/corrections.

As you may know, recent incidents such as the one at Virginia Tech may require us to execute and update the code red drill. By revising and making new rules and procedures, Uni will safer and better. I am willing to devote my time to making that possible. I learned a lot from being on SFAC this year, so I hope you guys will elect me to continue to be your SFAC representative! I enjoy being on the committee, and so if you have any questions or concerns about any of the rules and regulations in the handbook, I would be happy to work with you and bring the issues up to the committee. I believe that I am the right person to be the representative for our class, and I hope you agree with me. For more info and such, see my website at http://www.uni.uiuc.edu/~gu4. Thanks!
