Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, Oct. 1-7

Kumars Salehi finds the pickings slim among this week's new releases in movies and DVDs — not even the Farrelly Brothers' latest film, "The Heartbreak Kid," can entice him. Erin Hayes has better luck with the new CD releases, led by Dashboard Confessional's return to form, "The Shade of Poison Trees." But it's the local music scene that has Erin smiling again. Check out her top pick this week, the Hip-Hop Benefit Show for Planned Parenthood's Teen Awareness Group.

Film review: "Sydney White"

Sarah Pfander has developed a fondness for really bad chick flicks. Not surprisingly, she loved "Sydney White," the new film starring Amanda Bynes as a Snow White for the 21st century. Sydney and her Seven Dorks take on a college campus ruled by the Greek system. Check inside for Sarah's review of this guilty pleasure.

Column: Be true to yourself, but what does that mean when facing inner conflicts?
