Photo essay: Uni High Cultural Fair, Pt. 2

Gargoyle photographers Katherine Allen and Anna Gooler were on hand Friday to capture the sights of the Uni High Cultural Fair. In Part 1 of their photo essay, they documented the many cultural and culinary delights inside Uni Gym. In Part 2, they go outside for some West African drumming, Brazilian capoeira, and lots of dancing.

Winter air conditioning: What is it good for?

Tuesday morning I was sitting in our beloved underclassman chairs on the second floor when I noticed my feet were freezing. It turns out that cold air from the library was escaping under the doors. Normally I would just move and get over it, but then I realized that this was the middle of October, and not a particularly hot day.

My PSAT experience

I, along with fellow sophomores, experienced my first PSAT this morning at the highly air-conditioned Park Inn.

It was nothing like I had expected.

Seeing that the last standarized test I took was the SSAT, I've kind of forgotten what it's like. But, even if I had remembered the SSAT, it wouldn't have helped much.

Hard to believe, but the fall sports season is winding down. The boys soccer team has made it past the first two rounds of the Class A playoffs and will face off against Danville Schlarman on Friday in a sectional semifinal game 3:30 p.m. at Monticello High School. Subfreshman sports: Girls basketball team reaches .500

The subfreshman girls basketball team defeated Ludlow 33-11 Tuesday to raise its season record to 3-3. Jamie Blue was the team's high scorer with 14 points.

Girls volleyball: Illineks lose to conference champ Decatur Lutheran

[UPDATED] With the regular season almost over, the Illineks lost to conference leader Decatur Lutheran Tuesday night at Kenney Gym. But they will have a chance to reach 20 victories when they host Judah Christian in a senior night match Friday. It will be the final home contest for Chelsea Freeland, Claire Johnson, Sarah Pfander, Jamie Weiser, Ruthie Welch, and Karen Woodley, who have won more matches than any other Uni volleyball class.
