Skate the night away

Tired of dances? Student Council and the junior class are putting on something different for the school: an ice skating party. The event will be held Saturday night from 8:30 to 10:30 at the U of I Ice Arena.

Fall sports season ends with awards ceremony

A season marked by such accomplishments as Michelle Mehnert's third-place finish at the state cross country finals, the boys soccer team's return trip to the sectional title game, and the girls volleyball team's record-breaking 20 wins officially came to an end Monday night with the annual fall sports awards ceremony. Recognizing the chess team

Last night, I attended Uni’s fall athletic awards ceremony, which honored the cross country, soccer, swimming, and volleyball teams. A lot of honor and recognition was shown to these sports, congratulating the teams for their excellent seasons and performances. But how come chess isn’t recognized as much as these sports?

Illinois football, Pt. 3

If Illinois had lost to Ohio State on Saturday — as the Illini were supposed to — the men’s basketball team’s 63-55 win over Northeastern would have been the highlight of the weekend for U of I fans. But Illinois didn’t do what it was supposed to do: The Illini won.

Can't stop cramming

"Test" is a word that I laughed at before high school. During grade school, teachers moved at such a slow pace that come test time, there wasn’t much information to be tested on anyway.
