Girls basketball: Illineks drop season opener in overtime

[UPDATED] The Uni girls began their season with a tough 66-59 overtime loss to host Atwood-Hamond tonight. Junior Jessi Sulivan, who made it to the IHSA state finals in 3-point shooting last year, sank a trey at the end of regulation to send the game into OT.

Last Sunday night I was driving home with two fellow sophomores, Eddie Diazmunoz and Gabe Smith.

Since we were in Eddie's car we were listening to his iPod, which meant we were listening to his music, which meant I was doing a lot whining.

Why? Because Eddie likes punk and hardcore music, while I like mostly indie rock.

Vacation's all I ever wanted!

I hate missing school. I just end up making up homework, missing important tests, and being completely confused when I return without the most recent notes.

Actually, the annoying part of missing school, specifically at Uni, starts at least two weeks before a vacation or any other anticipated absence because we have to:

  • Step One: Print out an anticipated absence form.

Girls swimming: Improvements define success at sectionals

Considering the Uni High Stingrays compete against much larger schools, individual improvement is the best indicator of their swimming success. A successful season ended on Saturday at sectionals, where personal bests were achieved in 75 percent of the individual events.
