When did anime become so thought-provoking?

Japanese animation, commonly referred to as "anime," is quite popular these days. Not the paper stuff, but actual cartoon shows. Why else would there be so many homemade music videos of similar large-eyed cartoons on Youtube or Gofish?

On Oct. 28, 2004, a teacher at my elementary school ran from classroom to classroom parading around a framed article featuring the Boston Red Sox . The previous day the team had won the World Series for the first time since 1918.

The fall play opened Thursday night, and we have plenty of photos. But before we get to the play itself, here's a look at some of the hard work that went on behind the scenes to make Uni's production of "The Diary of Anne Frank" such a great success.

Fall play diary: Opening night!

Cast member Anna Gooler continues our backstage look at the making of Uni's fall play, "The Diary of Anne Frank," which continues through Saturday in the North Attic Playhouse. "I can pretty much sum up the tech week experience in one word: intense," Anna writes. "But, finally, Thursday night was opening night. All that intensity and hard work came back at me in the form of a reward: an awesome play."

Racing to execution

Racism can be found in unbelievable places. As I found out on Tuesday, Death Row is one of them.

There was a showing of "Race to Execution" at Uni on Tuesday, and I went for the history extra credit, but I got so much more out of it than that.
