The Uni girls usually have stellar distance runners, but this year they also have a state-caliber pole vaulter: Paige Martin. The senior has qualified for the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic, to be held March 30.

Uni has won nine consecutive state titles in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering contest. But those were in the small-school division. This year's team has circled April 18 on its calendar: the date of its showdown with U-High Chicago, winner of six of the last seven WYSE titles in Uni's new division.
