Girls soccer: Uni defeats Decatur Lutheran for conference title

The Illineks claimed the top spot in the East Central Illinois Conference with their win today over the defending champs. Uni hosts Champaign Central Wednesday and begins the Class A playoffs Friday against Monticello.

Alex Zhai ties for second-highest score in 2007 USA Mathematical Olympiad

Junior Alex Zhai is poised to represent the United States yet again in the International Math Olympiad. Last year he won a silver medal for the U.S. team, which placed fifth in the world out of 90 countries. Today, Zhai was named one of the 12 winners in the USA Math Olympiad. Only six of those 12 will be selected for the U.S. team, so Zhai still has some work to do.

Tribune names All-State Academic Team; Annie Liang honored as regional finalist

The Chicago Tribune has announced its 2007 All-State Academic Team. Senior Annie Liang was one of just 70 regional finalists chosen from throughout Illinois for their academic and extracurricular achievements.

Girls track: Shorthanded Uni turns in strong performance at Lady Spartan Classic

Senior Paige Martin led the way Friday at the Lady Spartan Classic with first place in the pole vault and second in the triple jump, but there were plenty of other reasons to be optimistic as the Illineks got ready for IHSA sectionals.
