"N*W*C*"

On Thursday, the junior and senior classes will take third and fourth period off to go and see "N*W*C*," a theatrical piece at Krannert.

Die-in style

On my last trip to the doctor I was asked about a couple of minor, not at all painful, scrapes on my leg.

Contrary to what my doctor probably believed, these scrapes didn't come from a traumatic fall. In fact, they were from an AWARE-sponsored “die-in” protest that had taken place the day before. I brilliantly explained that a die-in is when “a bunch of young people run into the middle of a busy intersection and lie down.”

Upperclassmen to attend controversial play Thursday at Krannert

Uni juniors and seniors will attend “N*W*C*” Thursday morning at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. “N*W*C*" is a 95-minute theatrical piece that blends hip-hop, stand-up comedy, slam poetry, and true-life stories. A major argument of “N*W*C*” is that society must confront racial slurs and stereotypes. The creators of the play believe that by using epithets freely and bluntly they are not only taking away the words’ power, they are reclaiming them.

A new type of math class

The sophomore Algebra 2 class is being moved to Siebel Center, instead of taking place in Room 209, situated conveniently in the Uni building.

The reason was just revealed to us. Instead of doing math problems in class in our notebook, we are going to be using notebook laptops. No more taking it easy in math class while everyone else does practice problems. The teacher will now be able to view all the problems that we have completed in class.
