Death by candy

The first day back from break one of the major things everyone noticed was one of the kitchen's vending machines being removed, where instead it was now replaced by the school's two refrigerators, totally messing up the feng shui of the kitchen. It was a big deal to walk into the kitchen and see a completely different arrangement.

Column: IHSA's new drug-testing policy seems like right move, but questions remain

This week the IHSA approved random testing of high school athletes for performance-enhancing drugs. The program will begin next school year, and any student participating in postseason competition could be tested. Elaine Gu, an athlete herself, looks at the new policy, which makes Illinois only the fourth state to approve drug testing of high school athletes.
