Best music of 2007, Pt. 2: Erin and Kumars give their picks

With the entertainment awards season in full swing (the Writers Guild strike notwithstanding), guest contributor Jake Seeley and Gargoyle senior editor Carl Zielinski offered their choices last week for the best albums of 2007. Now, not to be outdone, entertainment editors Erin Hayes and Kumars Salehi join in with their selections.

Film review: "Juno"

Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, an independent-minded 16-year-old girl has to decide what to do next. Writes Lauren Piester: "I'm predicting that this will be one of those movies that will stay around for a long time, to be watched at sleepovers at 2 a.m. and in Agora Days classes devoted to it, endlessly quoted in senior quotes and Facebook pages of the future."

Behind the changes at Uni Gym

Thanks to major gifts by Uni parents Mike and Pat Fernandez and 1942 Uni graduate Al Hunter, Uni Gym has brand new look, including a new floor that makes the gym safe to play in once again. Gargoyle reporter Katherine Allen takes a closer look at these changes and the process by which the school works with potential donors.

DVD review: "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry"

Thanks to the vagaries of the New York City bureaucracy, widowed firefighter Larry Valentine can't make his children the beneficiaries of his pension unless he can persuade best friend Chuck to become his domestic partner. The two lifelong heterosexuals soon learn what it's like to be the targets of mindless prejudice. Just another crude Adam Sandler movie, or is there some redeeming value? Maritza Mestre weighs in.
