If anyone has ever reprimanded you for keeping the water on while brushing your teeth, here is a real fact that could end this nasty habit: If you shut that water off every time you brush your teeth, you can conserve up to five gallons of water per day. If everyone did this in the United States, we would conserve more water than the amount used by New York City in a single day.

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, Jan. 21-27

One of the most critically acclaimed films of 2007 — "There Will Be Blood" — finally opens in C-U this week. You can be sure Kumars Salehi has it at the top of his list in the latest Gargoyle weekly guide to entertainment. Laura Dripps, meanwhile, has some Cambodian psychedelic rock to recommend, and Gordon Ruan likes at least one of the new releases in video games.

Growing up

Last summer, at Café Kopi in downtown Champaign, I noticed some beautiful photography displayed on the walls. The colors were somehow soft, but intense. There was something about them I just loved.

Boys basketball: Uni easily handles crosstown rival in 71-49 win over Judah

Uni won a rivalry game and picked up its sixth consecutive victory in a 71-49 conference win Tuesday over Judah Christian at Kenney Gym. Senior Mike Renner led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down three treys. The Illineks improve to 15-5, 5-1 in the ECIC.
