Humans like to have company. It’s a natural fact; it’s why we do so many things together. There are times, though, when I prefer solitude to mass amounts of chit-chatting and commotion. In those times I seek solace in the places that put me most at ease.

Senior trip '08: Off to the Dells

If the Uni hallways seemed a little less crowded this afternoon, that was because most of the seniors had departed for their three-day class trip to the Wisconsin Dells. So how does one celebrate Unofficial? Well, U of I students celebrate by getting drunk.

[UPDATED and audio included] On Monday, history teacher and lounge sponsor Chris Butler made the decision to close the student lounge. On Tuesday, Assistant Principal Sue Kovacs closed down the Counseling Resource Center, better known as the CRC. Although the rooms have since been reopened, what exactly was the problem, and why were typical student hangouts closed? Should we expect even more rooms to be closing?

Return to Agora Days '08: Waiting to exhale

As one of Uni High's top long-distance runners, junior Elaine Gu knows something about working out. But even she was exposed to something different in Ethan Stone and Jamie Weiser's Yoga & Pilates class. Who knew that paying attention to inhaling and exhaling could be a workout in itself?

Return to Agora Days '08: Hooping it up in Kenney Gym

For curious women

During Agora Days, I went to Taiwan to visit family, skipping the four days of student-taught classes. This meant that on the Friday before Agora started, when everyone else was looking forward to a fun week of no homework, I was anticipating a daunting 14-hour flight.
