Once

I went home sick on Monday during lunch. A good idea for two reasons: 1) I felt like crap. 2) I had time to watch “Once,” a wonderfully touching film.

Healthy competition (well, almost)

Competition shouldn’t be a strange concept to anybody who goes to Uni. As students, we engage in competition almost year round, whether it is athletic, intellectual, or even musical.

Return to Agora Days '08: Beautifying C-U, one sneak garden at a time

Junior Lizzy Warner wasn't sure what to expect when she took the Bring on the Sneak Gardens! class taught by sophomore Hadley Hauser and U of I lecturer Andrew Weiss. What she discovered was a whole new approach both to gardening and to beautifying the community. Free periods!?

Free periods can create difficult situations for me. Even after a long evening of homework, I often don't finish everything I was supposed to. So, I tell myself that I'll finish those last few math problems during my free period.

Without any Academy-imposed restrictions, Kumars looks back at the past year in cinema and offers his picks for the top 10 of 2007.

Gargoyle guide to the week in entertainment, Feb. 25-March 2

Will Ferrell comes out with a new comedy this week, set during the final season of the glorious ABA, the basketball league that gave us Dr. J and the most outrageous dunks this side of playground ball. But can Ferrell outdo the drawing power of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, who star as the sisters Boleyn in pursuit of Henry VIII? On the music scene, Pete Rock looks to outsell Janet Jackson and Webbie, while "The Darjeeling Limited" and "Patapon" seem like the best of this week's DVD and video game releases, respectively.

Kudos to "There Will Be Blood"

I finally got around to seeing “There Will Be Blood,” and my mind was absolutely blown away. I’d like to make a little bit of an informal, quick kudos to the cast of this phenomenal film.
