Weather update: Girls basketball playoff game postponed due to fog, will be played Wednesday

The first-round IHSA Class 2A playoff game between Uni High and Georgetown-Ridge Farm was postponed tonight due to heavy fog. The contest was scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff at St. Thomas More, the regional host site. The game has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Champaign school.

Spring play '08: Cast is chosen, rehearsals begin

More than 40 students have been selected for the cast of Uni's spring play, Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing," directed by Barbara Ridenour. Rehearsals began today as the actors set about the demanding task of getting ready for opening night, just two months away.

What kind of music will we make?

The sound of a distant saxophone echoing through the halls of time, a faint reminder that jazz is still here, but a painful signal of its past greatness and present failure.

My fateful Saturday

For those of you who have been to the new Champaign Public Library, you know how amazing it is, right? It’s almost like a museum – with its vast hallways, glass walls, wide staircase, and high-tech self-checkouts. However, while I do think that the new library is great, I must say that some work needs to be done on its parking lot.

Best years of my life?

Everyone says that high school is the best time of your life. Remember those parties and those dances and those cute boys, say all the adults?

Girls basketball: Judah edges Uni 42-33

Despite 18 points from senior Karen Woodley, Uni fell to Judah Christian on the road 42-33. Junior Rachel Skoza added a double-double -- 10 points and 10 rebounds -- but no other Illinek scored more than two points. At the time, Uni's record fell to 9-12 overall, 6-3 in the ECIC, but the Illineks have since rebounded with three consecutive wins going into tonight's playoff matchup.

DVD review: "3:10 to Yuma"

Starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, "3:10 to Yuma" shows that Westerns still have plenty of life left in them, according to Gordon Ruan. Down-on-his-luck rancher Dan Evans (Bale) agrees to escort captured outlaw Ben Wade (Crowe) to the 3:10 train to Yuma, where he will stand trial for his crimes. But getting there is easier said than done.
