Jennifer Roloff to be guest soloist at Danville Symphony Orchestra concert this Saturday

Going to be in town for spring break? How about heading to Danville on Saturday night? That's when senior Jennifer Roloff will perform as a guest soloist with the Danville Symphony Orchestra. She was invited to perform as this year's winner of the DSO's prestigious Young Artists Competition.

After his spectacular 2006 debut album, "Food & Liquor," Chicago-born hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco is back with his sophomore effort, "The Cool." Gargoyle staff reporter Jack Snyder enjoyed Lupe's first album, but he has some reservations about the second.

This Friday I'll get to see and swim in the ocean for the first time in my life!

Other firsts of mine that I will experience this spring break will include my first time on an airplane, my first time leaving the country, and my first vacation ever.

And yes, I've had to wait 16 years for this.

An ode (and beckoning) to summer

I'm awfully reminiscent of my summer last year. It consisted of a monthlong trip to Greece and Italy, an incredible two-week stay at film camp in Ann Arbor, Mich., and, of course, lounging about and adventuring around Champaign-Urbana toward the end of the summer.

While we had no school last Monday, I found myself awake before noon and glued to the TV, watching an old favorite of mine, "The Jerry Springer Show."
