Icky lipstick

I've always heard that makeup is made from some pretty nasty things. I even heard last week while watching TV that placenta is used in many shampoos. Someone I was watching the show with even confirmed this fact after relating the results of a thorough investigation of the shampoo aisle at Walgreens.

I am SO great

Many Uni students (like students everywhere else) participate in a wide variety of activities. As a result, we all know people who are incredibly talented in certain academic subjects, sports, music, or art.

CD review: Headlights, "Some Racing, Some Stopping"

Headlights, a C-U band with an ardent local following, recently released their third album, and Erin Hayes gave it a close listen. "While it's true that the record is consistent, cohesive, and relatively simple," she writes, "the idea that this should satisfy Headlights and their listeners (who are already hailing 'Some Racing' as a potential breakout for the group) is of concern to me. Yes, the album is pleasant, tender, and well-arranged … but is that enough?"

Bikinis and dancing: Everything a reality show needs

Reality shows are pretty much the most-watched shows today. It is one of the few ways that we can see “normal” people doing outrageous things and make fun of or support them without any fear of backlash. It is drama that you see played out every week, try to predict, and can supposedly at least partially control.

Girls soccer: Believe it! Uni begins season with upset of Centennial varsity

[AUDIO included] Led by the scoring of sophomore Erika Belmont and senior Aran Yoo, the Illineks made their 2008 debut Tuesday with a stunning 2-1 defeat of the Class AA Centennial varsity. Senior Sarah Pfander was outstanding in her first game as varsity goalkeeper, making 13 saves. Next up: The Illineks will play another Champaign rival, St. Thomas More, on Thursday.
