Girls soccer: Illineks dominate again in second consecutive shutout win

Sophomore Michelle Wong notched her team-leading fourth goal of the season to give the Illineks the only score they needed as they shut out Decatur St. Teresa today 1-0. The victory raises Uni's varsity record to a stellar 5-1-1 as the girls get ready for a road game Thursday against conference opponent Decatur Christian. Kumars Salehi has the story.

Big Show '08: Rehearsals begin

After two days of auditions last week, rehearsals for Big Show '08 have begun. Directed by seniors Anna Cangellaris and Eunice How, the latest edition of Uni's annual student comedy show will raise money for X-Week in May. Read inside for more details.

"Poetry from the Gargoyle's mouth" is back for Round 2 of the slam poetry edition. This poem, "Kiss It" by Marc Kelly Smith, is both inspiring and accessible, two necessary ingredients for any great slam poem: "If you need to kiss it,/ Kiss it./ If you need to kick it,/ Kick it./ If you need to scream it,/ Scream it./ But kiss it, kick it, scream it/ Now."

Over the highway and into the woods: To Allerton Park we go!

This week, Uni's freshman class will embark on an overnight trip to the 4-H Memorial Camp adjacent to Allerton Park for two days of climbing, falling, running, yelling, doing geometry, and building boats out of cardboard. It's the third straight year Uni freshmen have gone on the Allerton trip, but this year will feature some changes. Check inside for details.
