Plagiarism at Uni: An open letter to students from English teacher Suzanne Linder

Now in her 11th year of teaching English at Uni High, Suzanne Linder has dealt with an unusually large number of plagiarism incidents this year. She has encountered five clear-cut instances of plagiarism and three others in which she suspects plagiarism. Because of this, she has written an open letter to the student body addressing the problem.

Spring play diary '08: A last hurrah

This is the concluding installment of our 2008 spring play diary. Mehnert, Boyce return from YMCA national swim meet with personal bests

The swimming duo of Mehnert and Boyce are back from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., with brand new tans and an experience to remember. Though senior Michelle Mehnert and sophomore Lisa Boyce did not achieve all they hoped to at the Y-Nationals, they did turn in a number of excellent performances. One hundred and counting …

While skimming through The News-Gazette the other day I came across a short story and picture of a Champaign man who was going to celebrate his 105th birthday in a few days.

I was incredibly amazed by just reading the headline. I mean, how often do you hear of a 104-year-and-360-something-day-old man living in your community?

Dance crew hopes to revive interest in a dying Uni tradition

The ghost of past Uni dances, festive and well attended, will be resurrected at this year's Spring Fling thanks to three ambitious juniors who, inspired by "Step Up 2," decided to create their own dance crew. Look for their debut April 26 at the final all-school dance of the year.

Multicultural panel to be held Thursday

Uni students won't be in class from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, but that doesn't mean they won't be learning anything. For one hour, a multicultural panel will discuss culture and its impact on people's lives. The assembly will be held in Uni Gym. Chris Yoder has the details inside.
