Senior Q&A: Getting to know Kimberle Pillow

Kumars Salehi can't recall the first time he ever spoke to Kimberle Pillow. But he does know this: "She is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most fascinating and likable individuals I have had the pleasure of kicking it with during my tenure as a high school student." Read on for Kumars' Q&A with the future Temple University art student — and get a different perspective on Uni in the process.

Yeah for the sophomore curriculum

Now that the school year is happily drawing to an end, I would like to applaud and even express my gratitude to the geniuses that set up the sophomore curriculum.

Why? Well, in addition to the fact that I obviously learned a ton of interesting stuff this year, I would just like to point out that this was really the first year where all my classes … well, kind of connected I guess.

Saying sayonara to somewhat stress-free "s" years

Someone once told me that at Uni “s years are easier” — “s” years being subbie, sophomore, and senior years.

In my experience, that advice has been true so far. My subbie year was somewhat predictably the easiest one I encountered at this school, and also allowed time to meet new people and have fun occasionally.

How much studying do you plan to do for finals?

Ha! Not at all. I laugh in the face of danger … er, studying.

I have no finals, and I laugh at those of you who do.

Finals? What finals? If I ignore them, they will probably go away.

Enough that I feel prepared. I'm not going to kill myself, though.

Audio slideshow: Prom '08 in photos, Pt. 1

With "The Royal Masquerade" as its theme, this year's prom was held at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center in Urbana on Saturday, May 17. Plenty of photographers were, including most of the prom goers themselves. In fact, we have so many photos that we decided to give you them in installments. So here is our first slideshow — enjoy!

Everything I wanted to say this year but didn't

Time flies. No one has to toss a clock out the window to prove that it does.

A few weeks ago, I wasn't reading the signs that school was coming to an end. Only now is it starting to dawn on me that I won't be taking classes every day in about eight days — a giant countdown clock has made it hard not to notice.

CD review: Nine Inch Nails, "The Slip"

Nine Inch Nails released their seventh album, "The Slip," on May 5 (entirely online and at no charge), taking Gargoyle senior editor Carl Zielinski by surprise. While he found some areas that definitely needed improvement, he feels that everyone should still take a listen. "After all," says Carl, "you can't beat the price."
