Column: On a cold May morning … and afternoon

The first fishing trip of the season was calling, and Jie Han wasn't about to let cold weather stand in her way. Spending the day at Lake Shelbyville with her father and brother was worth it, even if she's still trying to get the feeling back in her hands.

WCIA's "Best of Class" to spotlight 18 Uni seniors

Usually only two students represent each area high school in WCIA's annual "Best of Class" series of one-minute TV spots. But for the second year, the station has invited schools to submit the names of all students who have the highest GPA in their class. In Uni's case, that means 18 seniors will be appearing on WCIA during the upcoming graduation season.

It was 6 o'clock on a beautiful Saturday morning. The sun was out and shining brightly. Smells of frying eggs floated around the house. A beautiful, crisp day.

And it was freezing.

Even though I had been asleep for the past 10 hours, or around 1.4 school night's worth, I still didn't want to get up at the crack of dawn. After all, I still had a lot of sleep to make up.
