First person: Making the journey from oral history project to WILL documentary

Sophomore Maritza Mestre was one of eight Uni students who took the raw material of the Class of 2010's subfreshman oral history project and turned it into an hourlong radio documentary for WILL AM-580. The show will air Saturday at 5 p.m. and again Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. In this first-person account, Maritza talks about what went into producing the program.

When senior Michelle Mehnert finished third overall at the Class 1A girls cross country state meet on Saturday, she did more than set a school record for highest finish by a Uni runner in the IHSA finals. She also won a challenge with coach Doug Mynatt: If she placed in the top five, he would allow her to shave his head. Today he pays up.
