Boys basketball: Illineks roll to best start of Beesley era

News-Gazette athlete of the week Mike Renner scored 19 points to lead Uni to a 72-23 road victory Friday night over Shiloh. The win improved Uni's record to 5-0, marking the best start in Joel Beesley's 13 seasons as varsity coach. Making it to 6-0 won't be easy, however. The Illineks will face crosstown rival St. Thomas More on Tuesday at Kenney Gym.

For the last three months Lauren Piester has been immersed in theater — first the Uni fall play and then Student Productions. "Being in plays really forces you to spend a lot of time with the same people, and you end up learning a lot of things," Lauren says. "I decided to spend this column imparting some theater wisdom to all of you."
