Summer break is a great time to relax, but Deren Kudeki explains that sometimes it is more important to kick back a little during the school year. There's nothing like the crush of homework and tests to make us savor a few moments of leisure.

Boys track: Taylor, Pratt dominate 400 run at Mahomet; 4x800 looks strong

Competing against Class A and AA runners, Malcolm Taylor and Nick Pratt won the top two spots in the 400 at Saturday's Mahomet-Seymour Invite. Uni's 4x800 relay team finished second, easily outpacing the rest of the Class A field. Tonight the top performers from Uni's boys and girls teams will compete at the U of I in the News-Gazette Honor Roll Meet.

Girls track: Illineks advance to state meet in three events

Uni will send six athletes to the IHSA girls state track finals Friday in Charleston. The Illineks qualified in the 4x800 relay (Warner, Collopy, Khanna, Welch), the 1,600 run (Russell), and the pole vault (Martin). They won sectional titles in two of those events: the pole vault and 4x800. [UPDATED with information about Friday's state prelims.]
