Uni began the 2008-09 chess season with 58-0 victories over Heyworth and Mahomet-Seymour Thursday night. Led by veteran players Gordon Ruan, Alan Liang, Brian Wang, and newcomer Kathy Qiu, the team is determined to finish the season undefeated and outperform last year's 11th-place finish at the IHSA state chess tournament.
