Sindha Agha selected to participate in Millikin University art show

When Millikin University's second annual High School Invitational Art Show begins on Nov. 1, one Uni student's work will be on display. Junior Sindha Agha's photo sequence of her sister Eva running on top of a Norwegian fortress has been accepted for the show. Agha could win a cash prize and even a scholarship to the Decatur college.

Subbie buddies to host Halloween party at Uni this Friday for Class of '13

Halloween is almost here … are you ready to celebrate? At 7 p.m. this Friday, the subbie buddies will host a special Halloween party for the subfreshman class, which will feature games, treats, and a haunted house. Check inside for more details.

Six subfreshmen earn recognition in art contest; winning sketch to be used in school fundraising

Six subfreshmen were honored recently for their drawings of Uni High. Melissa Rosas won first place, and five classmates received honorable mention. The winning sketch will be used to provide a signed limited edition to donors who give $5,000 or more to Uni High.

Uni musicians win all-district honors

Practice paid off for Uni's new all-district musicians, who auditioned Oct. 13 at Bloomington High School. The district jazz festival is scheduled for Nov. 1 at Illinois Wesleyan University, followed three weeks later by the district junior/senior festival at Illinois State University. The top high school musicians will go on to the all-state festival in Peoria in late January.

Parents of author Iris Chang donate books to Uni in her memory

Shau-Jin and Ying-Ying Chang, parents of the late Iris Chang, visited Uni last week to present the school with two books of essays written in honor of their daughter. The volumes consist of the best submissions from the first two years of the Iris Chang Memorial Essay Contest. Iris, a 1985 Uni graduate, wrote "The Rape of Nanking."
