Video: In their words — Eunice How on her parents moving to China

Inspired by The Washington Post's "onBeing" video series, Gargoyle staffers decided to make their own series of brief videos that delve into aspects of students' lives that are interesting and meaningful. We continue our series with senior Eunice How, who talks about why she decided to stay behind when her parents moved to China, and what it's like to live with another family.

Two years ago Joy Shapley, then a freshman, began drawing a comic strip for the Online Gargoyle called "Kerfluffle." It was a lighthearted look at the quirky side of Uni High, and it quickly became an OG favorite. Shapley continued drawing the strip until midway through her sophomore year. In this audio slideshow, she looks back at some of her cartoons and provides commentary.

Boys basketball: Uni notches 11th straight win, sets up title match with Decatur Christian

The Illineks on Tuesday won their 11th consecutive game, defeating Decatur Lutheran 59-52. Senior Austin Rundus led the team with 14 points and 4 steals. Uni (20-5, 9-1) plays Decatur Christian (21-3, 10-1) Thursday night, likely to determine who wins the conference. On Friday, Uni wraps up the regular season at conference rival Judah Christian. Then on Tuesday, the Illineks will take on Monticello in the first round of Class 2A regionals.

Girls basketball: Sullivan, Nguyen one step away from advancing to state in 3-point contest

Senior Samantha Nguyen and junior Jessi Sullivan are one round away from qualifying for state in the IHSA Class 2A Three-Point Showdown. Last year Sullivan made it to the state prelims, becoming the first Uni player to advance that far since Rebecca Murphy took over as head coach in 1994. Sullivan and Nguyen must finish in the top four Thursday night at Bloomington Central Catholic to advance.

Finding it again on the Internet: Uni librarian Frances Harris to revise book with help of students

[AUDIO included] Frances Jacobson Harris has been the Uni librarian since 1987. Drawing on her experience, she came out with a book three years ago, "I Found It on the Internet: Coming of Age Online," which deals with teens and the Internet. Now she is working on a second edition, with research help from history department head Billy Vaughn's anthropology class.
