Dancing with the elderly

Spanish club sponsored a salsa dance on Saturday. And I didn’t go. “I think I’m getting too old for these,” I said.
Cleaning freaks me out
Published: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 4:22pm
I hate cleaning my room. Actually, I really hate cleaning my room.
I'm fine with cleaning anything else, but when it comes to my room, I will try to put it off for as long as I can.
However, room cleaning is like homework: the more you procrastinate, the worse the situation becomes.
Grapes!

I ate a grape for the first time today. It tasted very good.
Am I up to the challenge?

I've got the shoes, I've got the shorts, I've got that queasy feeling in my stomach, and now it's time for it to start. I'm talking about basketball season, one of the hardest seasons of the year. With one week off from volleyball, which was amazingly relaxed, it is now time for me to suit up and prepare to get home at 7, again.
Halfway to winter break
Published: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 8:00pm
Time always seems to go by quickly. As usual, it’s been a busy two months for Uni students — with everyone obsessed with homework and whatnot, so I was somewhat surprised when I looked at my calendar and saw that October is giving way to November. What exactly does this time of year mean?
Halloween just isn't the same anymore
Published: Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 7:30pm
Ghosts and ghouls. Overflowing garbage bags of candy. Annoying people ringing your doorbell every five minutes. Ah yes, it’s Halloween time again.
For me, Halloween has always been a day where I could count on skipping homework and running around with my friends while feeling ridiculous because I was always the only one who didn’t have a ridiculous costume.
A waste

At the beginning of our cross country season, the rest of the team and I were getting better meet by meet. At a major invitational, many people on the team, including myself, recorded personal bests. However, instead of celebrating, I worried about a pain growing in my right hip.
Why can't anything go our way?

If there were a class for complaining, every single one of us, I’m sure, would ace it. After all, there’s sooo much to complain about:
We have too much homework. We’re overloaded with extracurricular activities. We should be sleeping way more than we are.
Our books are too expensive. Our backpacks are too heavy. Our days are too long. We want longer winter breaks.
Yet another reason I wish I were Harry Potter

I live 40 minutes away from Uni.
And that's when there's hardly any traffic.
It's really hard for my parents to pick me up from things at school, especially when they don't coincide with their plans in town.
Moolaadé

In philosophy class today, we finished watching a movie called "Moolaadé." It was about a culture in Africa that practiced female circumcision as a means of “purification.”
Eight hours and counting
Published: Friday, October 26, 2007 - 7:06pm
As I sat in my eighth-hour class, I yawned, aching for the day to end. And in that split second, I realized how long Uni’s school day is.
SAD about winter

Some people can distinctly call themselves a “morning person,” or a “night owl.” Usually I would think of myself as a night owl, although I’ve become more of a morning person lately. It just feels good to get up early and make my day productive.
Beauties and geeks
Published: Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 7:06pm
Every week that I can be home at 7 on a Tuesday, I turn on the TV to the CW and watch "Beauty and the Geek." Yes, it's a bit superficial, but I am totally addicted to this show. The point is to get a group of completely gorgeous women to pair off with socially stunted brainiacs.
A chance for happiness

The sunlight comes in as shafts filling your bedroom with soft light and warmth. The cover you pulled over your head last night is keeping you warm. You wake up, but keep your eyes closed, and for one second, before the worrying about your bus pass or math homework starts, you are simply alive and content.
Love has four eyes
Published: Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 10:09am
Four eyes, two mouths, eight sprawling legs … does it not sound like a monster?
It’s love! Two people in love. A couple, or people in a relationship … whatever words will describe numerous emotions and attachments two people can have toward each other.
