PLAN ahead
Published: Friday, November 30, 2007 - 10:03pm
Tomorrow morning I will wake up before 8, get out my No. 2 pencils, graphing calculator, eraser, and drive to Uni. Sounds an awful lot like a school day doesn’t it?

I was shown this a while ago, while randomly surfing YouTube videos. Isn't it amazing what you can find?
Drugs at concerts = not worth it
Published: Friday, November 30, 2007 - 12:31pm
I love going to concerts. There’s something special about being able to watch musicians perform live, which makes the music more impressive. The throb of the crowd jumping and dancing is splendidly exhilarating. Usually I leave concerts smiling with new energy coursing through my body.
There’s only one thing I dislike, and that’s the unavoidable presence of drugs.
Public high school is painful too

Oftentimes the night before a huge test, I find myself imagining a mystical fairyland. This utopia of my dreams is called public-public high school (as opposed to Uni-public high school).

FreeRice is going to make me smarter

Today was my first time on FreeRice. The Web site consists of a vocabulary game, and each correct answer rewards you with a donation of rice to end world hunger. I was immediately hooked.
Better than a dance

It's been 10 days, but it’s been hard to forget the first Uni ice skating party.
I walked into the University of Illinois Ice Arena on Nov. 17 not completely sure what to expect. I hadn’t strapped on a pair of ice skates in more than 10 years, and hadn’t been skating at all in three. This was also the first time that Uni had held such a party in place of a dance, or at least it had been quite some time.
Are you the lucky one?

When most people compare me and my sister, Dominique, it usually comes down to something like this: I’m quiet and hard working, and my sister is loud and hyperactive.
Mirror on the wall

On an unexpected visit to the doctor I was sitting on the annoying table and I noticed, to my peril, that the mirror was slightly to my right. In order to see myself in the mirror I had to lean to the right and strain my neck a little.
I started to wonder, why is it annoying that I can't see the mirror? Why is it a necessity for me and others to see themselves constantly?
Culture clash

Over Thanksgiving break, my sister made her annual visit home from the University of Chicago. Once again, she brought home a friend who didn't want to pay for the flight back home, and therefore, I had a new roommate.
Turkey Day dilemmas

Thanksgiving has always been a confusing holiday for me.
No more sharing

Wash your hands, don’t share drinks, don’t share food, don’t share brushes, and cover open wounds.
MRSA infection can be spread from any number of these forms of contact. No more “sharing is caring,” because what seems like a friendly gesture could ultimately be a sharing of disease.
Peace, love, and basketball … except … not

I just went to the first basketball game of the season. Uni High girls against Atwood-Hammond. I gotta say … it was intense!
Goodbye to "good music"
Published: Thursday, November 15, 2007 - 9:13pm
Last Sunday night I was driving home with two fellow sophomores, Eddie Diazmunoz and Gabe Smith.
Since we were in Eddie's car we were listening to his iPod, which meant we were listening to his music, which meant I was doing a lot whining.
Why? Because Eddie likes punk and hardcore music, while I like mostly indie rock.
