When I first began playing on the Uni chess team as a freshman three years ago in 2005-06, the chess team had a lineup of talented and strong players. That year, we won the East Central Illinois Chess League decisively and finished fourth overall with a record of 6-1 in the IHSA state tournament finals.

In today’s technologically advanced society, so many things have gone digital. From communication to entertainment, it’s hard to find an area that has remained untouched by technological innovation.

The movie “Mean Girls” was a huge hit. Thousands of people lined up and saw it in theaters or bought the DVD, loving the hilarious plot line of a group of catty high school girls inflicting unspeakable damage on themselves and others.

My freshman year, I had to drink this nasty microwaved concoction of soy sauce, apple juice, pepper, Al Johnson's snot, and god knows what else in order to be "initiated" onto UHGB varsity. I definitely threw up in my mouth a little.
