Martin Lawrence and Kate Hudson each return to the screen with new comedies, while Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck highlight the DVD releases with their portrayals of Jesse James and the coward Robert Ford, respectively. A rougher sound: A look into the hardcore music scene of C-U

Sindha Agha checks out the vibrant local hardcore scene, and all she needed was $6 to see six bands. With hardcore concerts put on almost weekly by companies like Error Productions, Agha recently set off to the Savoy Rec Center, where she encountered bands like The Masada Complex, the Inner City Royals, and Chasing the Reason. Concert review: Andrew Bird & Dianogah

Erin Hayes has witnessed some impressive concerts in her day, but for her, nothing can compare to Andrew Bird’s Pygmalion Music Festival appearance last Friday. Read on as she explains how the multi-instrumentalist blew her mind: "Andrew Bird put on a show unlike anything I had ever seen before. It seemed that his reason for being on stage was not to perform for an audience, but rather to create art for his own fulfillment, which the audience was lucky to see."
