CollegeHumor is awesome

I like funny stuff. I also like Facebook. That's why I often peruse YouTube for humor.

I can make ramen

There are many things that I know how to do: I can play Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony expertly on the violin, I can run a mile in under six minutes, I can read Latin, and I can expound on Plato’s philosophy.

But there’s one thing — one common, everyday task — that I can’t do. That is cooking.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving

One of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving. What I like most about Thanksgiving is the different ways it can be celebrated.

The imperfections of the college process

Every year seniors complain about the college process. It's stressful, and how are we supposed to decide our futures?

Can Uni's star basketballers live up to this 5-year-old?

As sort of a tipoff to the basketball season, which begins tonight at Kenney Gym for the varsity girls team against Atwood-Hammond, I thought I would create a mini-goal for all of Uni's basketballers:

By the end of the season, you should be able to dribble the ball as well as a certain 5-year-old girl.

Nonsensical nonsense: Art of Lewis Carroll arises again

Did you know that in 2010, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson's 1865 novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," will be recreated by acclaimed director

What's your point?

Have you ever stopped to ponder the question: Why are you here? Or, what is the meaning of life? (And no, while 42 is a legitimate answer, it is not the one I’m looking for.)

Questions like these have plagued me for years, and it seems that no amount of discussion or musing can bring me anywhere close to an answer (don't worry I am not going to go into philosophical mode).

Illinois men's basketball: Better than you think it is

Now that the Illinois football team has lost back-to-back matchups and chances of going to a bowl game look bleak, Illini fans may feel let down about the athletic program. With the men’s basketball team coming off a 16-19 season, the future may not seem as bright as it really is.

Yet despite missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since the Stone Age last year, the season ahead won't be as bad as the season behind.

On your mark, get set, oh no!

There, I did it again. I willingly committed myself to something that I know I will fight when it actually comes time to do it.

Recognizing the chess team, revisited

As the last race is finished, the last ball is kicked or volleyed, and the last lap is swum, a new type of competition begins for some Uni students. Unlike the fall athletes, these students compete on a much smaller field, a field made up of 64 squares to be exact.

Ah yes, it’s chess season again, and my teammates and I are ready for another successful run at state.

No more chores

If your idea of helping with household chores is lifting your feet onto the couch when the vacuum cleaner comes around, then you are one of many (including yours truly).

Morning practices and hairy legs

I know that Uni swimming isn't the best school sports team, but I do believe we really should get more respect than we actually do. Just because our team goal isn't about winning and focuses more on personal improvement doesn't mean we don't do well.

Always multi-tasking

We live in an age of multi-tasking. Instead of just doing homework, talking to someone on the phone, eating a snack, listening to music, or watching TV, we do them all together.

Enlightenment and extracurriculars

A few hours ago at basketball practice a thought occurred to me. It's a problem in the lives of some extracurricularly-loaded-Uni-students-who-clearly-need-to-go-find-actual-problems: activities you enjoy, but aren't particularly good at.

Tales of a so-called "athlete"

With the swim season nearing an end, I found some time to sit back and explore my athletic past.

It didn’t take too long.

The only thing I've ever really focused on athletically was dance, and as I got older I could never find a dance school that taught things I was interested in.

But last year I finally found something I love.
