A chance for happiness

The sunlight comes in as shafts filling your bedroom with soft light and warmth. The cover you pulled over your head last night is keeping you warm. You wake up, but keep your eyes closed, and for one second, before the worrying about your bus pass or math homework starts, you are simply alive and content.

I remember days where I felt that way nearly all the time. Where the only thing that existed in my world was a playground, some toys, a red wagon, and my parents' hands, but somewhere along the way that changed.

Now I go through most of my day unhappy, worrying about a million things, wishing that I could've done something better, and missing that second in the morning where I am really at peace, the moment where clarity exists abundantly.

If I could feel like I do in the morning all the time, my life would be significantly different. I would not make things out to be as terrible as I often do, I would have more to talk about than what is going wrong in my life, and I would sit down every once in a while and just think.

Unfortunately, I don't.

There are many things in life that are not favorable, but there are also a lot of things that are good. I want that moment in the morning to last a lot longer; I want to have a life that is actually happy.

In order to do this I need to find the good things in my life instead of emphasizing the bad. I need to be grateful for the things that I don't necessarily have to have, because "Nothing's ever promised tomorrow today."
