The pros of being an only child

My brother left for college almost a month ago. Since he is my only sibling, I am now an only child, and I'll admit … it's kind of nice.

For most of my life I've resorted to hiding cookies and other food that I like in the back of our pantry, in fear that my brother would eat all of it and not leave any for me. On the rare occasion that he would find it, he would leave the empty packaging in the pantry, which made the experience even more painful. Now that he's gone, I get all the food I want.

On the other hand, when he was in town I gave him all the food I didn't like. Since there's no one to clean up all the unwanted food anymore it just sits in our fridge for a while.

It is also much quieter. I can do my homework without someone complaining about not being able to solve a math problem. I can watch TV without someone continuously kicking a soccer ball against the wall or against the couch I'm sitting on. There is finally some peace in the house.

Finally, my computer is pretty old so it's sometimes really slow. Features often stop working altogether.

Now there is a spare computer with a fast Internet connection that no one uses, and I can be on it without anyone yelling at me.

So, I'm sorry Michael. I haven't started missing you yet.
